Make It Work – Project

Kia Ora everyone, For this term our theme was make it work. We were asked to build something that could help or change our school for the better. We decided to create a bench. The reason behind making a bench was because we thought our school didn’t have enough seating areas. Instead of making a life size one we decided to make a model because we didn’t have enough time or wood. I’m feeling a little frustrated and sad because we didn’t get to finish our project but at the end of the day at least we learnt new skills. Thank you for watching and hope you enjoy.

Year 8 Art Activity

On November the 21st, the year 8s at Pt England School had an art activity. The reason why our day was a little different was because the year 7s went to rainbows end for the day. For our art activity we needed to use an air brush technique and paint in the stencils.

The first block was fun, Whaea Saf explained to us what we were doing and told us we needed to grab a stencil she drew out and cut it with the scissors provided. But before that we needed to find a partner and grab a desk from our classroom and move it to the street. After cutting out the stencils, they would give us a cardboard rectangle that we needed to tape and stick the stencil on to.

In the middle block we had tech at Tamaki. My group was cooking and we ended up making KFC chicken wraps. It wasn’t that delicious and I felt kinda overwhelmed having to make it super fast but it was a little fun.

In the last block we started painting in the stencils. The technique we used was airbrushing and the colours that were used or provided were red and black. We needed to paint multiple layers to create a bold bass and after that we had to dry it in room 3.

This week for writing we needed to create a recount about what we did on Tuesday. My highlight of this task was being able to look back on how much fun I had on Tuesday. I hope you enjoy and feel free to leave a positive comment on my blog.

Inference – Surprise Birthday Party

SURPRISE BIRTHDAY PARTY

Flies hovered around the kitchen, looking for a suitable place to land.

Mrs Stevens carefully opened the hot oven and took out the two dozen small cakes inside. They were to be part of a surprise birthday party for her son, who would be home soon from school. After cooling the cakes by the open window, she began to decorate them with icing, cream and ‘hundreds and thousands’. Then she put them onto a large serving plate and took them to the dining table where she covered them with a brightly embroidered cloth over the cakes.

On the table were six cups and a similar number of knives, forks and serviettes. A birthday card with a picture on the front of a large cake with ten candles burning brightly sat at one end of the jarrah table.

Rain began to drip slowly down the drainpipe outside as Mrs Stevens removed her apron and hurried outside to the utility in the tin shed. Soon she was speeding down the rough and bumpy road to the bus stop. She was just in time to see a happy looking Shane waving goodbye to Mrs Johnson, the bus driver. Two minutes later he was even happier as he was joined by his unexpected guests at the dining table while Mrs Stevens began to make preparations in the kitchen for the evening meal.

Writing Challenge Level 4

I woke up and felt the need to eat. I was craving something juicy, salty and perfect to fulfil my emptiness, the perfect meal to quench me from my deep slumber, a big mac I thought. I jumped into my car and drove like a maniac to refill my deprived body. Without thinking, I was at the great Mcdonalds, a place where everything tastes like heaven itself. I walked in and saw something rather unexpected, it was a superhuman popeyes, but something didn’t feel right about him, he looked weird. One arm was gigantic and ripped, and the other side looked like a flimsy stick!

How to be a great Prime minister.

To be a great prime minister of New Zealand comes with great responsibility.  Leading the country comes with great respect for the people and having strength.  Today I will be talking about raising the minimum wage, lowering food prices and making public health care free.

Raising the minimum wage can have a great impact on our country. It can help businesses and companies grow widely throughout NZ, struggling households and unemployed people have a chance in life where they can be treated equally and a happy country. The average minimum wage of New Zealand is 18$ per hour which isn’t enough for most houses. I think the average minimum wage should be at least 35$ per hour. By changing that, it can help families put food on the table and pay for the rent. Minimum wage is a big problem in NZ and people need to see how big of a problem our economy is and improve it.

Lowering food prices. New Zealand has been changing through the generations, mostly the food prices. Our country has been suffering through bad and unnecessary amounts of money spent for just food. Food is a necessary essential for a living human being, I think it should be free but I know it won’t work well for this generation. That’s why I think it should be lowered to at least 140$  or more used per week for shopping essentials. Food prices have a big impact on our community and need to be seen as a serious issue we need to resolve.

Health care is one of the necessities that we all need. It should be something that can come for free without anything needed for it. A lot of families may not be able to pay for medication or other health essentials so it would be better for our community to change that for the better. Our country would have a lot of change in many great ways such as a healthy and happy community.

In conclusion, a great prime minister should be someone who notices how low our minimum wage is, sees how she/he can change the food prices and make healthcare free. The qualities that a prime minister needs is to be honest, relatable, kind,  respectful, responsible and much more.
