The history of social media? The most popular app?
Six Degrees is the very first social networking site. It was founded by Andrew Weinreich in May 1997. Social media has been evolving since the invention of the Internet. From the first email in 1971 and Usenet in 1979 to GeoCities allowing everyone to set up their own personal homepage in 1995. The most popular apps are mostly Messenger and Facebook.
I’m going to talk about the first ever social media platform, the most popular app and not to forget the history of social media. For example, Six Degrees is the very first social networking site.

 

Today I will be talking about what social media platforms are.
If you don’t know what a social media platform is I’m going to tell you, it’s an app that lets others communicate with each other from anywhere in the world. For example, if someone lives in Russia and the other lives in Europe they can still communicate. There are a variety of different social apps like Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, Tik Tok and so much more.

 

In this paragraph I will talk about the history of social media.
Social media is very important and old. It’s important because we would have never communicated with our friends and family across the world. If you didn’t know, social media is super old. Six Degrees is said to be the first social media platform. It was invented by Andrew Weinreich, and lasted from 1997 to 2000.

 

I am going to talk about the most popular app.
There are many social media platforms around the world such as Tweeter, Snapchat and many more but do you know what the most popular social app is, while let’s find out today. You might think it’s Tik Tok or Youtube but this might surprise you (or maybe not) it’s actually Facebook and Messenger. It says that Messenger has been downloaded around 51 million times and for Facebook, it’s 47 million.

 

In the paragraph’s it talked about what social media platforms are, the most popular apps and not to forget the history of social media. The quote that I’ll be using is from Dave Willis and he says “Don’t use social media to impress others, use it to impact people.”

This week I have been reading a book named “Captain Underpants and the perilous plot of Professor Poopypants”. I have been enjoying it so far and in my opinion I think the novel is much more detailed and talks more about how things began than the movie. Right now I’m starting chapter 5 “THE FUN BEGINS” in the novel. In the start of the text theirs a comic that George and Harold badly drew about Captain Underpants. I am going to talk about each chapter of this novel.

 

The first thing you need to know about the novel is who are the main characters. Their names are George and Harold. They have been best friends since forever. They go to the same elementary school “Jerome Horwitz elementary”. I will now give you a description on what they look like. George wears a tie and a flat-top and Harold wears a strip T-shirt and has a bad haircut.

 

Chapter 2 “ALL HAIL NEW SWISSLAND”

It talks about New Swissland that is located just southeast of Greenland. It says that everybody in New Swissland has a silly name. If you don’t believe me  just ask their president, The Honorable Chunckles Jingleberry Mcmonkeyburger Jr. or his lovely wife, Stinky. They’ll tell you all about New Swissland proud “silly name” heritage. And that’s where Pippy P. Poopypants is from. He is the smartest in the whole New Swissland and a fantastic inventor. He has successfully invented a shrinking ray and a Growing ray. Pippy P. Poopypants wants to use his inventions to change the world for the greater good.

 

Chapter 3 “THE FIELD TRIP”

Now back to reality, Jerome Horwitz elementary is now going on an field trip to Piqua Pizza Palace. All the kids brought their permission slips and were lined up to get on the bus. George and Harold could not wait to eat pizza and play video games all afternoon. While they were waiting they got bored so they decided to mess with the school sign. So George and Harold ran over to the sign and began fiddling with it, but they didn’t see the dark shadow in the bushes. It was actually their old grumpy principle Mr. Krupp. He shouted at them saying “A-HA!” “I caught you boys red-handed!” and started growling at them.

 

Chapter 4 “LEFT BEHIND”

They were punished by not going on the field trip and had to stay at school. Mr. Krupp told them to clean the teachers lounge and the cleaning supplies are in the janitor’s closet. The teachers loudly laughed as the buses pulled away. Harold felt sad, but George told him that they can still have fun. They had a plan, they were going to prank the teachers. Not just a ordinary prank it is an extreme one. At the sink George pulled the sprayer nozzle, while Harold carefully taped the sprayer handle in the “on” position. Then the two boys put the nozzle back, making sure the sprayer head was pointed in the right direction. Next Harold putted powdered paste onto the tops of the fan blades. Finally, the boys filled the refrigerator up with worm-shaped styrofoam packaging pellets. And now they have to wait.

That was what I have gotten up to in the novel. I hope you enjoy.

This week we have been watching a documentary  about how some children get to school in Russia. In the documentary it showed how children face danger just to go to school and get an education. In Russia, children have to wake up at 6:00 just to get to school on time, while I just wake up at about 8:00. Russia children had to face temperatures -50 degrees, while I get a warm bright morning. It takes them 2 hours just to get to school, it takes 5 min for me to get to school. Every thing is so different to my life, here in New Zealand, Aotearoa. It was so interesting learning about Russia.
